tb_07bf870   \" data-lazy=\"1\">\n    <h3 class=\"module-title\">Project Outline<\/h3>    <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n    <p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The 500KW Community Wind Turbine at St Briavels, is owned and operated by Resilient Energy Great Dunkilns which raised development funds for the project through community debentures. The project, commissioned in January 2013, was the first crowd funded wind turbine in the UK.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The turbine is generating clean, green electricity in line with expectations and is well placed to deliver against the project\u2019s social and environmental aims over the turbine\u2019s operational lifetime. These include the St Briavels Turbine Community Resilience Fund, the purpose of which is to help to build community resilience in St Briavels and environs by addressing current needs and future challenges.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>The project is committed to making a positive difference locally in addition to the environmental benefits directly associated with the generation of renewable energy.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text --><!-- module divider -->\n<div  class=\"module tf_mw module-divider tb_9b43d72 solid   \" style=\"border-width: 1px;border-color: #000000;margin-top: 20px;margin-bottom: 20px;\" data-lazy=\"1\">\n    <\/div>\n<!-- \/module divider -->\n\t        <\/div>\n\t    \t<\/div>\n\t\t    <\/div>\n\t    <!-- \/row_inner -->\n\t<\/div>\n\t<!-- \/module_row -->\n\t\t<!-- module_row -->\n\t<div  data-lazy=\"1\" class=\"module_row themify_builder_row tb_e38r598 tf_clearfix\">\n\t    \t\t<div class=\"row_inner col_align_top tf_box tf_w tf_rel\">\n\t\t\t<div  data-lazy=\"1\" class=\"module_column tb-column col-full first tb_lqfa604 tf_box\">\n\t\t\t    \t        <div class=\"tb-column-inner tf_box tf_w\">\n\t\t    <!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_1l6v705   \" data-lazy=\"1\">\n    <h3 class=\"module-title\">LATEST COMMUNITY RESILIENCE GRANTS AWARDED<\/h3>    <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n    <p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The next 6-monthly deadline for receipt of applications to the St Briavels Turbine Community Resilience Fund is 31<sup>st<\/sup> November 2019.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Application Form can be found in the tabs at the top of the page.<\/p>\n<p>Successful applicants receiving grants in the latest funding round are detailed below.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>\u00a34140 to St Briavels Cricket Club for an electronic scoreboard. <\/b>The panel noted the success of the Cricket Club since the funding allocated previously, and the important role that the club plays in terms of both community health through sport, and in building social connectivity and community pride. The panel agreed that installation of the planned scoreboard would contribute to the further success of the cricket club and help to maintain its position as a leading club in the area going forwards, securing the future of the club and benefitting both young and old in the community.<\/li>\n<li><b>\u00a32000 to Brockweir and Hewelsfield Play Area for safety repair works and materials, including repair\/replacement of equipment including the spider climb and the volley ball posts.<\/b> The panel recognised the importance of the play area to the community, not only for its use by children, but also as a place where families and others in the community can enjoy making social connections, and as a place where the community congregates.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>\u00a3300 towards running costs for the St Briavels Tea and Tots group<\/b> to allow the group to continue whilst new members are recruited. The panel believes the group provides an important role connecting young families and facilitating a mutual support network. The funding will give the group breathing space to become financially sustainable by attracting new members so it can continue in this role for the foreseeable future.<span The project, commissioned in January 2013, was the first crowd funded wind turbine in the UK.<\/p><p>The turbine is generating clean, green electricity in line with expectations and is well placed to deliver against the project\u2019s social and environmental aims over the turbine\u2019s operational lifetime. These include the St Briavels Turbine Community Resilience Fund, the purpose of which is to help to build community resilience in St Briavels and environs by addressing current needs and future challenges.<\/p><p><b>The project is committed to making a positive difference locally in addition to the environmental benefits directly associated with the generation of renewable energy.<\/b><\/p>\n\n<h3>LATEST COMMUNITY RESILIENCE GRANTS AWARDED<\/h3> <p>\u00a0<\/p> <p>The next 6-monthly deadline for receipt of applications to the St Briavels Turbine Community Resilience Fund is 31<sup>st<\/sup> November 2019.\u00a0 The Application Form can be found in the tabs at the top of the page.<\/p> <p>Successful applicants receiving grants in the latest funding round are detailed below.\u00a0<\/p> <ul> <li><b>\u00a34140 to St Briavels Cricket Club for an electronic scoreboard. <\/b>The panel noted the success of the Cricket Club since the funding allocated previously, and the important role that the club plays in terms of both community health through sport, and in building social connectivity and community pride. The panel agreed that installation of the planned scoreboard would contribute to the further success of the cricket club and help to maintain its position as a leading club in the area going forwards, securing the future of the club and benefitting both young and old in the community.<\/li> <li><b>\u00a32000 to Brockweir and Hewelsfield Play Area for safety repair works and materials, including repair\/replacement of equipment including the spider climb and the volley ball posts.<\/b> The panel recognised the importance of the play area to the community, not only for its use by children, but also as a place where families and others in the community can enjoy making social connections, and as a place where the community congregates.\u00a0<\/li> <li><b>\u00a3300 towards running costs for the St Briavels Tea and Tots group<\/b> to allow the group to continue whilst new members are recruited. The panel believes the group provides an important role connecting young families and facilitating a mutual support network. A selection of grant recipients is shown below:<\/b><\/p><ul><li>\u00a35000 to the St Briavels Zero Waste Village Initiative for the purchase and instalment of a rocket digester<\/li><li>\u00a33000 to The Friends of Lydney Hospital towards a new X ray machine<\/li><li>\u00a33060 to the St Briavels Playgroup for the purchase of new furniture and equipment<\/li><li>\u00a31000 to the St Briavels Women\u2019s Institute for the provision of a community projector and screen.<\/li><li>\u00a31000 to St Mary\u2019s Church Hewlesfield towards the cost of work need in relation to the lightning conductor<\/li><li>\u00a32000 to St Briavels Pavillion for security measures and internal fittings<\/li><li>\u00a32000 to The Friends of Lydney Hospital towards a new X ray machine (second grant award)<\/li><li>\u00a3540 to Brockweir Community Shop for a defibrillator case<\/li><li>\u00a3730 to South Forest Support Group of Parkinsons UK<\/li><li>\u00a3500 to Brockweir Entertainment for the provision of a Christmas lunch for elderly residents.<\/li><li>\u00a3700 to Wonky Carpenter towards the purchase of a Van for the collection of wood for creative reuse.<\/li><li>\u00a3350 to St Briavels Football Club for purchase of equipment<\/li><li>\u00a3600 towards the cost of St Briavels Community Celebration.<\/li><li>\u00a3500 towards Action for our Care fundraising activities<\/li><li>\u00a3500 every six months (on an ongoing basis) for a roving Village Handyman service<\/li><\/ul>\n<h3>St Briavels Turbine Community Resilience Fund\u00a0Update\u00a0 Spring 2019<\/h3> <p>The St Briavels\u00a0Wind\u00a0Turbine\u00a0Community Resilience Fund has allocated over \u00a375,000 since its establishment, helping to build community resilience in St Briavels and environs.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p> <p>Projects supported to date have been as varied as:\u00a0<\/p> <p>a rocket digestor utilising waste food\u00a0(organised by St Briavels Zero waste and installed at\u00a0Wyedean\u00a0school); repairs to the Assembly Rooms\u00a0and Church organ,\u00a0equipment for the Memorial\u00a0Field and\u00a0separately for the\u00a0Pavillion; support for\u00a0a number of\u00a0school\u00a0initiatives,\u00a0equipment for the village football and cricket clubs;\u00a0support for other community groups\u00a0and\u00a0environmental initiatives, including a bee project by the gardening society;\u00a0and,\u00a0funding to match the Parish Council\u2019s contribution to a\u00a0roving\u00a0village handyman service\u00a0on an ongoing basis.\u00a0The fund also previously contributed \u00a35000\u00a0towards improvements in\u00a0X ray facilities at Lydney hospital and has supported installation of defibrillators in St Briavels and\u00a0Brockweir.\u00a0<\/p> <p>The latest\u00a0grant\u00a0allocations\u00a0are:\u00a0<\/p> <p><b>\u00a32,978 to\u00a0<\/b><b>MacKenzie<\/b><b>\u00a0Hall,\u00a0<\/b><b>Brockweir<\/b><b>\u00a0to support improvements.\u00a0<\/b>The Advisory Panel noted that the Hall is well used by residents of St Briavels,\u00a0Brockweir\u00a0and\u00a0Hewelsield\u00a0and is an important community asset. The planned improvements will benefit\u00a0a number of\u00a0local organisations and local residents who hire the facilities.
