|Resilient Energy Alvington Court |
This joint venture partnership between The Resilience Centre and John & Heather Rogers of Alvington Court Farm, submitted a planning application for a 500kW Community Scale Wind Turbine in September 2012.
Planning permission was refused by the Forest of Dean Development Control Committee in June 2013 on the single issue of heritage setting (in particular the setting of Grade II Alvington Court Farm). Landscape, Noise, Ecology, Amenity and all other aspects were found fully acceptable by the planning officers and there were no statutory objections. After seeking further specialist advice, Resilient Energy Alvington Court has lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate against the decision.
| Case details may be found by entering the Appeal Reference APP/P1615/A/13/2204221) on the planning portal at www.pcs.planningportal.gov.uk/pcsportal/. The Appeal is to be determined following the Written Representations procedure. The deadline for submitting comments has now passed and we are awaiting a date for the Inspector's site visit. A big thank you to all those who wrote to PINS in support of the Appeal.|
|The proposal is for a Community Scale wind turbine with a maximum hub height of 60m and a maximum blade tip height of 87m - the same size as the installed Resilient Energy Great Dunkilns wind turbine at St Briavels, which is already delivering local community benefits (See separate page for details). The Alvington application received a high level of support with 174 representations in favour - more than those objecting to the project. We maintain that this is a good site for a turbine project of this scale; designed to help meet the local energy demand of the host community and maximise local community benefits including a commitment to an annual community donation averaging £15,000 - £20,000 a year as well as opportunities for local people to invest through crowd funding.
